It does not show that you just want to know the results but your purpose is to seek information about next step of the interview; either someone has been selected or still process is going on. Most of the companies don’t bother to intimate those who are rejected in interview nor can they be informed by those who were selected because of unfamiliarity with each other and as a matter of fact no candidate is bound to inform others about his or her selection. In any of the case while writing such letter you should not assume that this the age of email and there is no need to follow the letter writing rules and its format. In companies there is still lot of old timers who know very well about official letter writing and your several mistake may add negative points in your interview results. Therefore, if you have to write a letter to know the result of your interview then must review the letter writing rules and format through any website and then write a letter. It is best to follow letter writing rules even if you are sending a letter through email.
Follow up after job interview also reflects your hope about your success which shows your optimism and trust in yourself. But verbosity and bombastic language in such follow up may divert the attention of your employer from your positive attitude towards your cleverness to earn a few good points naively. Therefore, it should not be treated a sources to just stay in touch with the employer.
After first follow up it all depends upon the nature of further process of the interview to do the second follow up.
